Credit Cards for People with Bad Credit Rating

There are credit cards available which are specifically designed for people with a bad credit rating and people who have encountered credit problems, or been refused a credit card in the past.

Bad credit is used to describe a number of situations and this section provides links to companies who offer:

  • Credit cards for people with CCJs (County Court Judgements), defaults, arrears or other bad debts
  • Credit cards for people with a poor credit rating or low credit score (also known as an adverse credit rating)
  • Credit cards for people who have been refused a credit card in the past and who are looking to rebuild their credit rating
  • Credit cards for people previously bankrupt or involved in an IVA

A word of warning - applying for a credit card if you are already seriously in debt and over stretched is not a wise move. The short term additional spending power might seem attractive, but you'll be getting yourself deeper into debt and exacerbating your problems. Instead contact the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - the UK's leading debt charity for free debt advice.

Capital One have designed their Classic card for people looking to strengthen or rebuild their credit rating.
